Inspire and motivate Self Awareness & Efficacy
What can students learn from this?
Students will learn how to take risks, really to build a sense of belonging community in the classroom, to discover their feelings and different aspects of their identity.
How can I do this in class?
The teacher writes one sentence on each paper: I AM; I CAN; I BELIEVE THAT; I ENJOY; I AM LEARNING TO; PLACES WHERE I SPENT MY DAY and leaves the six cards on the floor forming a circle, one step distance between the cards and number them from 1 to 6. When music starts all the students walk in the circle putting feet behind each card. The teacher stops the music and all the students stop walking so he/she rolls the dice. The number they get, for example 3 represents “I believe that” the students will use a sentence that starts with that words. The music starts again and round 2 begins. For each shared sentence the student gets 1 point. Every student has a chance to share his/her own sentence at list once. The student with the highest point wins the activity.
Reflection tips
People’s identities are the heritage and the most precious treasure possible to find within our society. Giving our opinions and ideas is the best way for sharing with others our identity, and listening to theirs is the best way for entering into contact with other people.
Here the goal is not to win but to share, to give and to take from others interestlessly.
