The Challenge

This is supporting material to teach the “Engagement and Commitment” module. It is a presentation that can be used in the classroom while teaching the module.

It also includes a 15-min discussion guide that can be used for reflection.

What can students learn from this?

Students will understand Why a Social Entrepreneur needs to be engaged in her/his cause. They will learn What being Engaged/Committed consists of and How to act to become/stay engaged/committed. If used as a team activity, it allows for a reflective self-relevant discussion.

How can I do this in class?

You can go for the full presentation (45 mins) or allow students to do the discussion as homework afterwards and minimize the time of the lecture to around 30 minutes.

Reflection tips

Let students write down their own support network

  • Map supportive friends, family, classmates, teachers, mentors
  • Write down instances of how this network has helped them in times of need / hardships.

Alternatively, you can discuss the “Cope with failures and setbacks” part.
